I am only gettingback into photography, and i carry my camera with me almost all the time I go out, unless its pouring down,
Mostly my shots are wondering to or from the office, but do pop out with the wife some weekends to places that spring to mind as were heading out the door generally

I started off rather unsuccessfully randomly driving round.
Now I do quite a bit of research, but still have the occasional random drives. I've got a whole bunch of maps with different coloured spots on them with each colour indicating a time of day or weather condition. I collect old photography books of the local area from th 30's to the early 80's The reason I choose old books is because the general landscape structure will be roughly the same, but the details will have changed, it adds to the mystery and means I'm not going to be copying someones work. Occasionally I look on Flickr or even picture postcards, if I'm going somewhere I've never been before.

I just carry my camera wherever I go. I live about a mile from a popular port in my state, so I always go down there for almost any type of photography I feel like. Great beach area, great foliage and nature shots around the border of the port, and great ocean shots. The town is full of tourists, where candids are also very nice to take. The only downside is that there are a lot of powerlines which really take away from the shot.
But the roads are extremely curvy, which make up for it, and I can usually crop the lines out of the shot. It can depend on where you live. I don't live never any flowers really, so I don't get to take too many shots of them. Also wish I had an airport nearby so I could take long exposure shots of planes at night.

I wouldn't say it has "all the best places". In fact, it would seem as though the pickings are pretty slim. There are only 4 spots listed in my entire state, for example.
