Default "The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

For the last 2 days I've been getting this message when viewing some pages in the forum here. Using Firefox 3.5 on a Mac. I try the same link in Safari and it seems to work. Anyone else with this problem?

Pot luck.

"Page temporarily unavailable" generally means the server's being hammered with requests.
I don't know how our web hosting is laid out (Sime is your man for that, I think) and whether we have a dedicated server or even 2 or more to separate out the web and DB servers, but that's generally the cause of sites being unavailable.

Also look up the Slashdot Effect on Wikipedia.

Maybe we need to look at getting meatier hardware for our beloved forum?

I get the same errors. It happens once every couple of weeks! I'm trying to view my OWN thread and I keep getting those errors. Hopefully, they'll figure it out!! Very frustrating!!

I have the same problems with Firefox on a win machine. Usually if I go in under tools at the top of the page and clear the cache, it seems to help.
Use this link, and scroll down to where it says, Error loading some sites.
Hope this helps!

Error loading websites - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

LOL! I just realized how old this thread was!

I use FF or Opera normally when I'm in here and haven't had any issues with pages loading so far. It might be the time of day, that the load is being affected by the number of people trying to load on.

The only thing I can think of today is that I've been messing around with SYS, and I know that I've asked support to check out the image / grey line issue. Please post in this thread if you see it often, again, after you've cleared your local cache (google will help you do that)

muchos gracias!

Had the same problem a while back. Delete all cookies and the such. Should do the trick.

This happens to me sporadically. Most times I mention it, I get a "huh, no clue" response.

There is one solution which always works for me, and I have no idea why. I use Firefox, and my solution is to delete all cookies related to digital-photography-school.com.

I've had plenty of tries at experimenting, deleting one cookie at a time, and that doesn't seem to work. Deleting all cookies for DPS does work, and then of course I just have to log back in again. Emptying the cache never seems to help.
