Default "Save for Web"

I have a personal blog where I love to post pictures of my family. My problem is that the pictures I post never look as good as when I edit them (PSE6). I have tried using the "Save for Web" feature and it doesn't seem to make a huge difference. The pictures seem to lose contrast and the colors seem blah. If anyone knows how to help, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks

There is a slew of possible reasons why you're seeing them differently.
What browser are you using? Different browsers have different color modes and settings that view things differently. Different browsers also support different amounts and ranges of color. Make sure you are saving images to the sRGB color mode and not the Adobe RGB 1998 mode. sRGB is what pretty much every browser now uses.
Where are you hosting the photos? Most free hosting services downgrade the quality of photos to save space.
The "save for web" function isn't going to make photos look better on the web. 'save for web' is for optimizing photos to look somewhat the same on the web, but with lower quality and a smaller file size so your site loads faster.

I use Typepad for my blog. I know it's possible to get my pictures to look good because I read other Typepad blogs that have great looking pictures. That makes me think it's not just my blog, computer, etc.

I made sure I was using the sRGB color mode (I wasn't before) and it still didn't make a difference.
