Default Another question from me....

I've just been looking into getting a remote for my camera, I am keen to be able to do some remote shooting for self portraits and the like but I don't really know where to start.

I have found a Nikon D60 'compatible' remote on e*bay for a couple of pounds but I don't think it is a Nikon branded remote. Does this matter or should I invest some more money in a branded one?

Much appreciated

Personally I've stuck with all Nikon stuff. Remotes, and cable releases.

Well for a couple of pounds I don't see the harm in trying it...try googling the off-brand name to see if any reviews or opinions come up on it. "Brand X remote nikon review" or something along those lines. Obviously it won't be as good as the quality of the branded, but then again it's dirt cheap. Better to go expensive on the important things like lenses and cheaper on the accessories than vice versa.

Except for flashes....I tried a Sigma flash and it was horrid.

I bought the Nikon ML L3 remote from Argos, cost me less than fifteen quid. Catalogue number 570/8417.

Saving money and photography don't really go together unless you're saving money to buy something expensive for the camera.

also don't forget that using the timer delay can help with self portraits as well as removing camera shake when its on a tripod or something. course you will have a lot of running back and forth =)

I say buy the Nikon one. I'm a Canon user myself, bought the Canon remote and I have never had a problem with it. I found out later that it even works with my film SLR as well as the DSLR that I originally bought it for.
