Default Putting pictures on a DVD vs. CD

I recently did a family portrait shoot for a friend of mine (my first shoot ever!). I put all the photos on my laptop and deleted them from the memory card. Edited them. Got them all just the way I want them. Our agreement was that I would give her a CD and she could print wherever she wanted. The shoot was just for me to practice, not for me to profit. Anyway, now that I'm finished, it occurred to me that my new laptop only has a DVD burner and despite my best efforts I cannot seem to get any pics on a CD. If I put them on a DVD will she still be able to print at Walmart or Walgreens type places? Also, I was wondering if I can put them back onto my memory stick by using my card reader and then put them on my husband's laptop to burn to a CD. Anyone know if it can be done? I guess I could try it with some pics I don't care about to see. I'm just afraid of losing her pics all together. Thanks for the input!

That seems really odd. As far as I know, a DVD burner should also burn CDs. Is there perhaps some sort of setting that needs to be changed in your burning software? If you burn pictures to a DVD all you should have to do is make sure you specify that you are making a "data" DVD. Otherwise, it will probably try to create some sort of slideshow that plays when you put it in a regular DVD player. Sorry, I know this may not be very helpful... but I've shared what little I know in the hopes of helping you... even if it's just a little bit.

Hmm, I don't know. I'll see if there's a setting I can change. Thanks.

95% sure that most places will take a dvd to print from, yep.

What software are you using to burn?...

DVD burner is CD and DVD compatible but most likely the total size of all the images is more than 700 MB (CD max).

Forget about CD and burn them onto a DVD.

Ok, so I can burn CD's. Just wasn't smart enough to do it. I figured it out though and it worked just fine. Thanks for the input. Good to know that I can put them on DVD's though.
