Default Photo backdrops

Does anyone have a good source to purchase Muslin backdrops? I have a few of basic colors and would like to get a few more that arent so plain. But, I was rather hoping not to spend 300 bucks on one.
I've seen them out there but thought if anyone knew of a good source you'd care to share I would be greatly appreciative

Personally, I make my own by tie-dying canvas drop-cloths from wal-mart, but, Amvona carries a very good selection of back-drops at a variety of prices. Good luck.

Personally I like to keep my $$ for software, lenses, and stuff you just can't make. If you want to get a little creative and have some fun I recommend checking out some D-I-Y sites (Do It Yourself). I found this link for muslin backgrounds

do you really HAVE to use muslin backdrops? is there anything else that you can use? this might sound ghetto but if i want a black background, couldnt i just use black bed sheets or something? i havent tried it yet but it has crossed my mind lol

Well yes, I want some fancier backgrounds. I have black and white all ready and a green and yellow one and a yellow one. But I want something nicer and more custom. Hard to charge higher prices if you dont offer something more special.
six pack-thanks for the link. Now I ahve to figure out where to buy it. Our wal mart doesnt sell material and the nearest store is 100 miles away. Yup I live in the middle of no where!

Try fabirc warehouses rather than direct photography places if you were UK based would say Dunelm etc have a HUGE selection but sorry yer not so try them usually they have great selections at reduced prices ... get chatting to the manager see if they can do you a deal for some advertising ie a small space on your web site etc etc ... who knows .. remember never fails to ask the worst they can say is no

The ones that I have made, using the link that sixpak provided, turned out real well. I didn't use muslim, I used 6' x 9' canvas drop cloths from wal mart. For the real ones, I still suggest Amvona. They have a good selection and very reasonable prices.

Sounds like an excuse to go check out Lowe's or Home Depot!

You could always check any local theatre groups or college theatre dept. There may be a scenic there quite willing to do one to your specs for photos of their work. You may have to supply the mus but a quick trip to the fabric store for light weight unbleached muslin should be relatively painless.

And of course, while you're talking to the scenic/painter you may happen to leave some cards to pass around.
