Like I said before I haven't had any problems yet, so I'm just guessing here, and not challenging your thoughts at all. I guess I'm thinking along the lines of a jar with water in it. If you keep the lid on will it dry out as fast as with the lid off?

I bet if a person could score a lot of those silica gel things, and put their lens, and silica in a big zip lock freezer bag with the caps off it might dry out kinda fast. It wood still be in a some what dust free area, but still have some room to breath.

Hey.... how about a hair dryer set on low. Just enough to get the lens warm, but not hot?

I'm gonna be in big trouble if I get moisture in any of my lens.

Last time I checked I'm not infallible Really... If I am, that's news to me

My train of thought was as follows:
...it's not like lenses are water / airproof in the way that a sealed jar would be since air and other stuff can work it's way in via the zoom I would think. I just figure it would be my luck that I would have moisture on either the front or rear element, I would put it into a container with the silica, dust would come out of the little silica bags and firmly attach itself to the element while I left it to dry, leaving me to have to clean it all over again, and with my further luck, get moisture back into the lens. That's all, that's my interesting version of logic at least lol

See, not infallible, just very unlucky most of the time, so the logic follows a lot of worst case scenarios.

Always worth having a couple of these in your kit bag:

Cheap, reusable, and indispensable!
