Default I''m an Idiot... Really, I am...

My Sigma 10-20 suffered a drop *Cringe* (Yes, I wanted to cry ). Anyway, the autofocus/manual button popped out... I popped it back in, but the lens won't focus correctly anymore.
Any idea what's amiss... what it'll cost to fix it... and if I can get it fixed locally? Or will I have to ship it back to Sigma?

Depending on how the lens works (does the front move when you focus?) you may have broken the journals inside the lens that extend/retract it.

I'd contact Sigma and get a quote. And cross your fingers.

That once happened to my 17-35mm lens. I had to take the button and make sure the lens contacts were fitting correctly with the button. It worked, so I took duc tape and put over the AF - M button so it would fall off the lens anymore. It still works, but I don't use it anymore as I got a 16-35mm.

Is it still under warranty? I'd send it straight to Sigma instead of trusting a local shop that has to ship it out to their own repair people.

I just got it in December so I Presume it's still under warranty. Would a warranty cover a "stupid me" kind of moment? If so, score!

Something inside is rattling, obviously jarred loose after the drop... I don't know if that helps any of you who are more camera technical than I am.

Anyway, just shot off an e-mail to Sigma. Hopefully they'll have good news... or at least, news that won't force me to sell newspapers on the side of the road to pay for it
