Default Close Call

I don't know wth is up but I just got my repaired lens back last week, and today as I was returning home and pulled into the driveway I noticed a black pouch laying on the driveway right up next to the garage door.

My heart stopped as I immediately realized it was my 580EX II Speedlite laying there. Worse I realized that I had probably backed over it since I had loaded all my computer parts and bags and camera etc into my trunk before I had left earlier. It was laying very close to the tire marks but not on them so I thought I just might get lucky. I got out, pulled it out of the pouch, looked it over, turned it on and fired it. Whew!

I don't think I ran it over as I don't see any signs and I don't remember a bump, but I couldn't have missed by more than 2 inches. I kissed it and threw my hands up in the air in victory. As I turned around to get back into my car I noticed my neighbor looking out his window at me. He was probably wondering what kind of lunatic he has for a neighbor.

I really hope this isn't one of those things that come in threes. I'm gonna be so paranoid the next few weeks.

Time to lock yourself in a safe somewhere... and your gear in another.

Now there's an even better idea...I'll try it. Might even put the ole nifty fifty back into the bag as a possible sacrifice just in case.

You just might have a point. :-)

I think I just need to stop carrying so much crap around. LOL...from P&S to DSLR in 45 days, then DSLR back to P&S in 2 Years.

Note to self - make sure the insurance is up to date.

Yup..the stupid things we all do when not paying attention. I've been lucky myself on more than one occasion. Once I stuck my camera behind behind a TV in my hotel room in Fork, Washington, while I went off to grab supper. Next morning I awoke and drove off to my assignment, only to realize that I only had the camera with the 16-35mm lens on it. The EOS1D with the 70-200 was still back at the hotel behind the TV. I drove like a madman, lucky for the I didn't get a ticket and the camera and lens was still there.
