Hi guys I am looking for a little advice if possible!
![]() I have been asked to photograph a wedding by a friend and have managed to get a lot of info from the web site and its members already. Don't worry I'm not looking for answers as to what to take etc, it's much simpler than that!? I would like to buy a new memory card for my camera so I don't have to worry about running out of space on the day. My camera is a Fujifilm s9500 and it can use XD, CF or Microdrive. I am looking for about 8gb at the most reasonable price possible. Which do you feel would be the best way to go for cost versus performance, XD, CF or Microdrive?? Any comments and advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance |

CF is the way to go.
Don't even think about microdrive. There's no reason to consider buying them anymore. They were only of interest when there were no big CF cards. The M type xD cards are quite slow, so you'd have to look at M+ type xD cards (which surprisingly don't really cost much more). The big problem with xD is that the largest xD cards made are 2GB. xD (finally!) seems to be on its death bed. The failure of xD to push past the 2GB mark has made both Fuji and Olympus provide alternative choices on all of their recent cameras. The slow speed of xD probably was a another factor. They tried to make faster xD cards (H type) but they couldn't make them inexpensively enough and gave up. Last edited by Doug Pardee; 06-24-2009 at 03:40 PM. |

Seconding the CF card approach, with the key being that other things us CF cards. Card readers are made that work well with CF cards. I think it's the only good way to go.

And since you think you need 8, get 12, and I would also get a 4 gig cards instead on one 8 - that way if one fails, you did not lose everything

Don't get micro drives......I actually had one start chirping like a little bird and went bad...strange. Get the CF cards as they are more durable. Instead of putting all your eggs in an 16 gig basket..get four 4 gigs or two eight gigs cards. I had a two gig CF card go through the wash cycle and was then dried, still works...amazing things they are. Of course, I gave it to my daughter for her camera, once I found out it still works. So far she's had it two years and not a problem.
