Default Kodak Retires Kodachrome

While I realize this is Digital Photography School, I know a lot of people who still shoot with film, or shoot both film and digital, so I thought I'd pass this along. A lot of people got their start with Kodachrome.

And, for anyone who may panic before they read the story, it's only the Kodachrome line that Kodak is retiring; they're still producing film through their other lines.

Yea..they been doing that for years little by little. At one time you could only process the Kodachrome at Kodak lab, but they dropped the processing themselves and farmed it out to other pro labs. I still have bout 100 assorted rolls of various ISO's from KM25 to KR 64 and 200 in the freezer. Maybe I should just shoot and get tit over with.

Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So Mama don't take my Kodachrome away...

Keeping film in the freezer extends it's life. You can do the same with batteries.

God, I must be old to know that!

Nope: 21 and I knew that one

Most "good" places will keep the rarely-purchased stuff in a mini fridge instead of leaving it out on a shelf or peg.

Guess it's a good thing we asked for that song at our wedding reception.

I knew this day was coming. Read about it actually a few weeks ago. I kinda sad to hear it but since I'm all digital now not gonna lose any sleep over it. But Kodachrome was an iconic film and lots of good shots were captured with it. Shoot up that film Jim, the processing won't be around much longer either.
