Default Bolivia

hi everyone,

I will be making a 6 week trip to bolivia (leaving in august) and I'm not sure what I should take with me. the major problems are storage space and battery life. I won't have acces to a computer all the time, and I only have 9 gig in compact flash cards and only 1 battery for the camera.
if you have any tips for me considering storage space, safety (of my equipment) or anything else, please help me out.
I would also like to hear what you think of battery grips.

my gear:

body: canon 30D
lenses: canon 50mm
canon 55-250mm
tamron 17-50mm
flash: sigma EF-500 DG super
storage: 8gig compact flash
1gig compact flash

Get an international adapter for your main charger and at least 1 extra battery. Set your camera time out to 3 minutes, this will save battery life. I shot over 2000 pictures in California in 1 week on one battery. I brought 5 fully charged. I would only take the 17-50 and the 55-250 lenses, the flash, and all memory (and consider buying lots more).

Edit: Get a bag that doesn't scream "Camera gear inside!"

thanks for the tips.
what kind of memory would you suggest? someone told me about these portable harddisk that don't need a computer to transfer your photos from a card to the disk (I can't find it on the internet, how are these things called?). would it be wise to invest in such a harddrive, or would it be cheaper/ more practical to just buy more compact flash?

i have a rugsack that looks more or less like this .

In addition to what quo fan said, you might want to think about getting a bag made by lowepro called the flipside - it only opens on the back side, so noone can come up behind you, open your bag and take stuff out. Depending on where you're going in Bolivia this would be a very, very good idea.

I've been there, it's a very cool country (to visit). Have fun and bring back great pictures!

the flipside does look like a very good bag, but i'm already spending quite a lot and I would like a solution for my storage problem first and then see how much I have left.
thanks for the tip though.
