Lightbulb Contest or not, get the shot...

I've been lurking on here for months now, watching the photos come by... thinking I would start posting some one of these days. I had a great idea for the "abandoned" contest; A local Christian church, abandoned by its members for about two years now, during a thunderstorm. I watched as the clouds went by, and the rain, but never saw "the shot" which would have been a beam of sunlight coming down on the building. I should have made "the shot" or taken as close to it as I could. I thought I'd get by the next day or to but didn't.
Tonight I drove by, and it is now mostly torn down.

Lesson learned... get the best shot you can while you have a chance, very few will ever be "perfect."

That's too bad.

But while the good idea you came up with for the abandoned church didn't pay immediate dividends, I'm sure that idea will eventually pay off in some other setting, possibly when you least expect it.

If I see something that I think would make an awesome shot I shoot a few test pictures to see if what I think the setting should be will work. Sometimes the test shots are actually the ones that I keep.

Maybe a shot still remains of the demolished church depending on what remains.
