Default HELP with windows Vista

I just downloaded the correct plug-in so I can open the RAW files from the 50D. I am trying to extract the files and put in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins and when I do that, I get this message:

Error: Access is denied - Cannot create C:\Program files (x86) Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-ins\Camera RAW.8bi. Administrative privileges may be required.

I am the only one who uses this computer, so I should be the administrator, right? Or am I being saved from myself b/x this file should go somewhere else?

I did - it was trying to save me from myself. I just needed to take a breath get a cup of coffee and come back to it....So, maybe I do like Vista after all.

Never use an admin account as your own, even if you are the only person using the computer. I know it worked in older versions of Windows, but Vista is a temperamental beast. If you had kept them separate, Vista would have prompted you for the admin password and then copied the files. No fuss, no muss.

If you are running an install program, try this:

Right click on the icon and select "Run As Administrator". It should then come up with a box asking either for your username and password, or a continue/cancel dialog. This should help a bit (if I am understanding the problem right)

Even if you are the administrator in Vista it still prompts you about stuff like this. As mentioned above right click and "run as administrator" or extract them to the desktop and drag them into the other folder manually. If all else fails (and for various admin tasks e.g. setting some programs to run at startup) you need to boot into safe mode and log in as admin there before it will let you.

Haha... coffee fixes all! (Did you have CS3 running? I've had it lock folders in me from time to time whilst trying to copy stuff about)

...speaking of coffee!
