nope
the D80 has a built in focus motor, and can act as a commander for optical triggering of off camera flash (CLS)
plus a ton of other bits like the user interface etc etc.

D200 is a metal body.. D80 is plastic. so for that reason i'd say a D200
OH, and the Sync speed of the D200 is 1/250th as opposed to the D80 at 1/200th

but i have a D80 and i'm very happy with it.. the frame rate is a tad slow.. so im watching the pennys accumulate so i can get a D300

thanks. im feeling more confident about the d80 now, and thats its cheaper.
the built in motor in the d80...?
does that mean if i buy a lense that does not have a focus motor it will still be able to auto focus cause the camera has a motor in it?

Get the D200... the 80 feels like a junk toy compared to the D200.

Yup. Exactly. AF lenses will autofocus on a D80.

Look at it this way. The image quality of the D80 and the D200 are likely to be identical: same sensor, same processor. The D200 just has better usability features, things like a metal body, faster frame rate, additional features, etc. So the premium you're paying for the D200 is only for a nicer feature set. But the image quality is going to be the same as the D80's.

I really enjoy my D80 or did until it broke (not because of build quality, Son broke it). I really can't think of anything I disliked about it. I 'm sure you will enjoy either of them.
