Doing a photography evening course and one of the girls starting oign on about how proper photographers don't use Photoshop, it's cheating, and apparently all her photos show EXACTLY what she can see
![]() Even with our (professional photographer) tutor trying to say that almost all pro photographers do image manipulations (and had been for decades in the darkroom) but she wasn't having any of it. Was good to use some of the arguments people have brought up here while discussing it with her though ![]() We have a Photoshop lesson next Tuesday so we'll see how much see changes her tune!

Tell her she's do-do. That all phographers use photoshop to PP their images.
True, they are a few or a lot out there that use photoshop to perform image manipulations to one degree or another. Most of us use only toning, levels, curves and color balance to adjust our images. Photo shop is probably over her head and beyond her comprehension to grasp. It's either that or she can't afford a copy even at student discount. Who know maybe she thinks she's another Ansel Adams.

I remember the darkroom in high school for yearbook and newspaper, back in 93-95. We would always adjust the pictures, brighten them, crop them, and resizing them for assignments. We also had four walls full of pictures that we altered, solarizing them, putting multiple frames together, using filters, putting people into frames they weren't supposed to be in, general goofing around. Photoshop is just a new way to do all of those things and many other things that we couldn't do back then.
I don't know what a proper photographer is but if they are people that only use what comes SOOC them wouldn't shooting in RAW go against that?
