This should help you out.

I don't use CS2, so I open my raw files with the software that came with my camera.

Thanks, Susan,
I used the software to open my RAW file and transfer them to PS, CS2. I did some editing and when I wanted to save it would let me save as JPG. So, I encountered another problem-how convert it to JPG and save.
Thanks again.

Use the program that came with the camera. It's called Digital Photo Professional. It will open up RAW files and convert them to tif or jpg.

But what if I process the RAW image on PS and then I want to make a JPG conversion? That's where I got stock right now.
Thanks for suggesting the software that came with the camera-I was ignorant not to use it.

You probably can't open them directly in CS2. Adobe only supports newer cameras in their newer versions of software. They figure that if you can afford to buy a new camera, you can afford to buy a software upgrade.

From what I can tell you've got a Canon EOS 40D. You'll need at least CS3 to open the Raw files from that camera directly in Photoshop.

Check out this page for Camera Raw updates for the various Photoshop versions: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...atform=Windows
Or if you're a Mac user, this page: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...form=Macintosh

The latest version of Camera Raw for CS2 is 3.7. For CS3 it's 4.6, and for CS4 it's 5.3. You'll find the list of cameras that CS2 can process Raw files for in this document: http://www.adobe.com/special/photosh...3_7_readme.pdf (pages 6-7). The 40D was first supported in Camera Raw version 4.2. And no, Camera Raw 4.2 won't work with CS2.

You'll either have to update to a newer version of Photoshop, use a separate converter program such as DPP or Adobe's DNG converter, or switch to another editing program entirely.

If you poke around, you should be able to find a plug-in to work with CS2. I still use PS7 (GASP!), and had to do some digging to find the plug-in so I could import my Olympus RAW files into PS for editing (hint: Olympus does NOT have it on their site anymore).

That's the one I use. Had a blonde moment...should have mentioned the program name. Thanks for covering my arse, oldwolf! LOL.

I open the RAW files up in DPP and usually use it to correct any white balance issues I might have. Then I save to JPG and finish my editing in PSE7.
