I haven't, but I'd check their history very carefully. Also ask why they are selling. A used camera shop would be a safer bet as they'd test it and you could take it back if anything goes wrong. But that will probably be more expensive. Have you checked used camera shops online to compare prices?

I purchased my D70 on ebay. There is very little risk as long as the seller has a return policy. Be sure to comb through the details and make sure you know what you are getting, and only pay with paypal. Besides that, ebay is a great way to save a ton of money.

I have bought a used camera from ebay. It was a film body that came with a 50mm lens. I mainly wanted the lens. I had a good experience everything worked. I also bought a 28-135mm IS lens. Both were under 250 so nothing greater than 300 bones though. Check their scores and reviews before buying.

I always check out the seller's feedback and if there is negative feedback, I like to read it. Usually the negative is someone who had unreal expectations, and didn't want to hear that they were in the wrong, or they read the listing wrong.

I bought my 100-400L lens on ebay. I paid $1250 including shipping.

I try to never purchase electronics, especially a camera and one costing over $300, without first viewing/touching/using it. If it is brand new, that is not so bad but I would by far purchase from a dealer like B&H online before purchasing the same thing new on ebay. Just my $0.02.
