Default I just got my DSLR camera back from Canon

I was with out my dSLR for two week's I was getting an error code 01witch is that my camera was not talking to my lens. They had to replace the PCB assembly. Has that happened to anyone before where you need to get it fixed? I hope this is the last of my problems. It is working fine now!

Default problem with xti

hello
there
i had a problem with my 400d with a error 99 response
i was taking part in a class and the instructor suggested trying
a different mode like p-program and iso 400 when i took
a shot i got the error 99 response even though i put it back
full auto.so i checked the manual and it indicated the following
switch off/on and if that did`nt work take out battery and re-insert
worked for one shot only and the error 99 came on again.
i contacted Canon Australia who stated this was a common error
and stated sending the camera to their service center for repair
at cost the of $600 approx depending on what the problem was!
Well i panicked,so i contacted Canon U.S.A for help.
They gave me a set of instructions to follow and here they are:-
(1) Remove Battery/CFCard/lens
(2) Let the Camera stand for Twenty Minutes
(3) insert fully charged Battery and take a shot
if no error, the Battery/body are ok
(4) Insert CF Card and take a shot if no error
CF Card is ok.
(5) Attach the Lens and take a shot if no error
The Lens is ok.
(6) However if you do receive error on either
Battery/CFCard/Lens at you will which
area is the problem and therefore may cut the cost of repair

I've been getting the same problem on my 350d - I did some googling and found a blog post where the guy suggests its a problem between the contacts on the lens of the 18-55mm and the camera. (apparently ts a known problem for the 18-55mm).

I've just stopped using that lens I'm too scared to follow the cleaning instructions in case I break my camerea.

I had gotten a Promaster lens with my Canon Digital Rebel that worked fine with that body. I upgraded to a 30D, and the Promaster lens and the 30D didn't get along very well. So I relegated my Promaster lens to tubes duty.

I was getting an error 99 (which is a communication error between the body and the lens). Didn't happen with any of my other lenses.

actually, a code 99 error can be for a multitude of things. The shutter quit in one of my older EOS1D's and it costs me about $850.00 to replace and overall the camera body, but it came back good as new.

Err99 is sort of like "Unknown error" or a blue screen of death. When my XT got it, I couldn't power down the camera, and it wouldn't shoot. I had to pull the battery to get it to turn off. I ended up sending it to Canon repair for their flat-rate ~$200 fee, and they replaced the power board assembly, and it's been working fine ever since. The steps given above from Canon Service are what you do with an Err99.

Err01 is specifically that your lens and camera aren't talking together. I get that error a lot when I'm using a manual focus lens with an AF-confirmed chipped adapter ring. The chip on the ring isn't perfectly aligned, and usually all I have to do to get rid of the Err01 is to re-mount the lens.

I would recommend inspecting both the lens contacts and the contacts on the camera, and possibly trying to clean them off with a pencil eraser, and remounting the lens. It can be that simple a fix, although it could also mean the contacts in the camera have been hosed.
