Default Who Knew ... about iso flux?

This is really really dense of me but: I just realised that iso - no matter what ' My' setting- will auto adjust itself when I shoot in Program mode, Tv & Av? Wow, I never cease to amaze myself I missed a HUGE basic!

Not on my camera it won't. I can pick Auto ISO or a specific ISO in any mode I wish (except manual). If Canon really works like this there isn't a chance I would by one as I normally shoot in P or A with ISO set to 100.

Mr. Intensity, are you sure? That just doesn't seem right.

Had to be auto ISO-you usually determine the lowest shutter speed for the change to take place-For instance if you set 1/60sec. as lowest shutter speed, iso will change when this speed is reached-Ken

Does the XSi have auto ISO. I know my XTi doesn't, that could have been one of the improvements.

Ahh I need to redress my error : Like yourself; I have to choose a setting (and not leave it in auto) when I want more control. Thanx for bringing me back down to earth
But It was none the less a new discovery for me.

I Thank you all for waking me up here> I do have to choose setting- like iso 100-when I want full control. Leaving iso in AUTO is when it..well duhh, auto adjusts.
But again: It is something that I missed in the eight months I've had this camera.
Coming straight from the XT...well it like in chess, learn the rules, study the game parts or be mediocre.
funny, I didn't notice until I got this 55-250mm IS

Wow that is kind of weird that there is an auto setting for ISO. I gotta tell my friend that bought an XSi not to long ago. She might not know. I have only ever seen that function on P&S cameras.

Most DSLR's have this function. You have to turn it off.

auto iso sux, it just riuns the pictures with noise (unless you can set limits)

i'm always in either "M" or "A" ..occasionally "S" ...the rest leaves room for a loss of control.
my camera turns to crud at iso1000, iso 800 is only just acceptable..
SO! keep the ISO on manual, learn when your camera produces too much noise... and do whatever you haveto, to work within that boundry.
