Hi all!

My name is Steve, I am new to photography. I just got a canon 350d on clearance at Walmart, and I am excited at the prospect of all I will be able to do with it.

Looking forward to interacting with all of you and getting some pointers as I start putting up things that I shoot.

Congratulations. You should have a lot of fun with that camera.

One short comment: if you find the camera acting wacky, it could be the batteries. The main battery is Li-Ion, and they usually have a useful life of 2-3 years after manufacture. There's also a "button" battery that keeps the date and time (and also provides some power for the main processor) that has a useful life of maybe 5 years.

With luck you'll have a few years before you run into battery trouble, but if you start getting weird behavior like "locking up" or shutting itself off or whatever, it's probably not the camera but just an aging battery.
