Default Posting question

In advance I apologise if I'm in the wrong area or asking something that I have missed in the rules.

Is it OK to post shots in someone else's thread where it is relevant - I know this is probably a grey area. The reason I ask is because I saw a posting about Alaska & in my comments mentioned that I was going to dig some out & post them. The original poster said they would like to see them. Should I post in that thread or start a new one. I would assume that any posting would count towards the normal daily limits.

Thank you

If it's relevant I see no problem with that.

If they said they want to see the shots, no problem at all. The guideline I follow is to respect the original post and not to "grandstand" (showing off and putting in in a poor light).

So, for example, if somebody starts a thread in Share Your Shots about how excited they were to visit Barcelona, sharing some of their photos and saying that they can't wait to go back and see more of the city, I think it would be perfectly reasonable to respond with a few shots of your own representing other views of that city (unless they are so much better that they make the original poster's images look poor by comparison, in which case it might be better to quietly move on).

Personally, I'd love to see more threads in Share Your Shots which co-operate on a theme rather than just being one person's shots, a couple of generic replies and then the whole thread dropping out of sight.

Thanks Wulf - that's my opinion too - it's also a great way of showcasing different views of the same thing. I think it's particularly relevant when the thread is about a city or region. It might be interesting if there was a section relating specifically to travel.
