Default mpix.com

I've read great things about this site for quality printing and was curious to try it out for large scale prints (ie 16x20).
has anyone had any personal experience with this site to comment? I'm curious mostly in the quality of the prints and what is the typical turnaround time if we place an order to expect a delivery.
or if there are better ones someone can recommend that would be appreciated too!
thank you!

I'm actually uploading a bunch of pics for several clients to mpix as I type this, LOL! The largest I've ever gotten from them is 8x10, so I can't answer your question about the much larger sizes, but so far I've been very happy with their quality. Turn around time is very fast - even just regular shipping will get to you within a few days.

I've ordered multiple 16x24 and 16x20 from them, mostly headshots, but also a sunset that I had done on metallic paper. I pretty much gush about mpix any time anyone asks about prints. One day turn around for the prints if you get them to them at a reasonable time of day, and then shipping of course varies by what you pay for.

I've also used SmugMug for a poster sized print, and thought they did an okay job. With them I was less thrilled that they shipped it in a tube instead of flatpacked like mpix does, but the quality of the print was good once I smoothed it out.

AdoramaPix gets glowing reviews around here as well, but I've not used them.

*Edit* Omfg! If lputman is going to put a picture of a picture, I am!

I had a 16x20 metallic printed photograph from them that is now hanging in my cube at work. It is gorgeous and I love looking at it. Turnaround is quick, I would think more than 5 days for regular but I had expedited shipping because I was so anxious to see the enlarged photo.

Not that it does any justice, it isn't a good photo, but here's my final.

Their large prints rock. I'll be using them for the forseeable future.

Their canvases ARE great. I ordered 3 16x20 ones recently. I ordered on a Thursday and got them on Wednesday (that's with the regular shipping). Here's what they looked like with me standing next to them for a size reference and here's what they look like from below, so you can see the wrapped-ness of it. I have never felt cooler and more accomplished than when I hung my own photos on canvas on my walls.

I got a 20x30 from them a while back... good quality. No complaints. Yet.

I ordered 6 prints from them recently: 4-12x16 prints (2 copies of 2 different photographs), 1-11x14, and 1-8x12 print; all on metallic paper and mounted on foam board. Their site said to add a day to processing due to the foam board mounting. I had them shipped to my PO Box with regular 3-5 day shipping.

I ordered them last Thursday, I had an email that they had shipped out when I woke up Friday morning even though it was supposed to take an extra day due to the mounting. I picked the package up from the Post Office yesterday morning (Monday). So, even using standard mail, I got them really quickly.

Quality? Exceptional. But then I'd like to think that my photography skills had something to do with that as well.

Another reason that I use them is that I can order prints directly through my Zenfolio gallery. That makes the process very convenient for me.
