Default My lens hood broke this morning :)

SO I had my D80 with 18-200vr sitting on the kitchen table this morning when I quickly turn around to see it falling to the floor. It landed lens first on the corner of the hood and then rested on the grip. My heart sank as I assumed I would be kissing one lens and one camera goodbye. My first sign of damage was a crack in the lens hood the entire length. With trepidation I turned on the camera and all seemed well. I then took off the lens cap and saw nothing broken. Next I took a few shots and everything is working fine. Thank goodness for lens hoods.

Here are two I took out the car window after the fall:

Run a little bead of epoxy, or JD Weld down the crack, sand it smoth and paint it flat black. Or just buy a replacement from B&H.

Glad your bad luck turned out good. I keep a hood on every one of my lens.

Another reason to use the hood ALL THE TIME! I use mine all the time, if nothing else to make me look cool

Ask any Canadian that spent any time during the summer in souther Ontario: those birds are hissing, cackling, violent creatures.
