Hi yxl - you've posted to the wrong forum. This one is for posting photo's that you've taken. I think you need the General Chit Chat forum (I expect a moderator will move it shortly).

But to answer your question, it depends. I use Flickr because:

- It's more popular (I think), and therefore your photo's have more exposure
- The photo manager I use (ACDSee) can upload to it directly, but doesn't support picasa web (but conversely, if you use the Picasa photo manager app then the reverse is true)

Martin.

I use both.

Picasa Web limits you to 1024MB of storage. Flickr, if you don't have a Pro Account, only limits your monthly uploads (you can upload 100MB and 2 videos per month). So, if you use up your limit during one month, you'll have to wait for the first of the next month to start uploading again.

So, I'd give the edge to Flickr for it's unlimited (sort of) storage and popularity.

Depends on your purpose, and how many photo's you wish to upload. Each has a pro and con.

For this site, I personally like flickr, as they give you different photo size options. Among those is the medium selection, and it formats the picture size to be roughly about the size needed to comply with the posting rules on this site. On top of that, if you get a pro account (about $25yr), you don't really have a limitation on how many you can upload, and pretty much anyone can see the pictures. I work in a government office, and anything posted on Photobucket, or Picasa is blocked, don't ask me why they just are.

Picasa is good if you want the simplicity of posting right from your photo editing software, and you aren't concerned with picture size formating. I love the ease of how picasa uploads, but the sharing function is limited, and the tags don't work as well as they should, flicker's work much better.

I actually post my photo's in a couple of places. Mostly because I don't want to depend on a single site or location for keeping my photo's safe. I use deviant art, flickr and picasa for my photo sharing options. Deviant Art has some features that neither flickr or picasa have, which is why I chose to use them as well.

I really like my Flickr and have not had any problems from them either.

Doesn't everyone use flickr? I just thought it was the standard. I have no idea if it is the best, but would you rather be in the New York Times or the Long Beach Press Telegram. Maybe the Press Telegram is better, but you still have to go with the New York Times.

You can also post right to "Blogger" which is nice. I started with picasa but switched to flickr because the community at picasa is basically zero.

not completely true. flickr limits you to 100mb and 2 videos per month, and also, if you don't have pro account, it only shows last 200 uploaded photos and limit their maximum size to 1000 and something pixels

This is sort of what I'm thinking. Is there even a community on Picasa? I've only used it very briefly, but compared to Flickr, it doesn't seem quite as streamlined or user friendly. I dunno, it feels more like a photo-storing resource (like Photobucket), than a photo-sharing community like Flickr. Is it easy to browse other people's photos? Are there groups you can join and discussions you can partake in? Flickr seems like the obvious choice to me.

Basically I like Flickr ever since they started. Picasa on the hand, I only use their software for managing images in your hard drive.
