Default The 10 Rules Of HDR

This from the HDR group over on Flickr. I thought they were pretty funny...

There's been some discussion about what constitutes correct HDR so to help clear things up I present to you the 10 rules of HDR, in no particular order.

1. The more exposures the better the HDR. 3 looks okay but 333 looks like God's HDR.

2. The more plugins you use the better. Remember to add Lucis, Topaz and most of what Alien Skin produces. Add Fractulus for that Pro touch.

3. All HDR programs must use sliders that generate their own gravitational field, it makes them easier to jam against one end.

4. Remember, mildly over the top is when your colours start to bleed, true over the top is when the viewers eyes start to bleed.

5. You must create at least one realistic HDR, if for no other reason than to say "Look, I do realistic HDR".

6. Make a note of all the famous surrealist artists that helped pave the way for people to shoehorn as much colour into an image as possible. Forget the hundreds of thousands of Surrealists artists that no one has ever heard of who thought they would try the same thing.

7. If your image isn't covered in halos then you are not moving those sliders over far enough. Try using a crowbar.

8. Never ever HDR your girlfriend / wife / cute chick you met on the bus. You might think bringing out all that skin texture is cool but it will never make up for the inevitable trip to the emergency room to get your computer surgically removed.

9. Remember, flash is the natural enemy of the HDR image.

10. In the future all cameras will do internal HDR, thus breeding a whole new generation of people that think HDR is cool and new and better than anything else that came before them.

Note: This is of course tongue in cheek. Please feel free to add your own rules.
