Default Where is Exif data?

I’m really new to photography and this is my first post on this forum, so please bear with me. I’ve read about EXIF data and I see it is required information if I want to post on the weekly assignments. Can anybody tell me where this data can be found? I can't find it on any of my camera menus. I only have a point and shoot camera. Is the EXIF data only recorded on DSLR cameras or am I just over looking it? Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

all digital cameras should be recording exif.

if you right click on the image file when on your PC, then hit properties > Advanced
you should see it

another way is to upload to Flickr and that will tell you allot more.

If you open a photo on your computer and right click on it and go down to properties and to summary it should be there. If you are using Flikr all you have to do is check on the photo and look to right for more properties. Ihope that helps.

*psst* On a mac it's Right click > Get info. There's a tab for "more info". It's in there

Is it possible to copy and paste that data somehow, or is it a type out jobbie?

Thanks!

I'm using an older version of Mac OS X (10.4, not the newer 10.5), so my advice may be out of date.

On my version, I can't select the EXIF data in the Get Info window. However, I can open the image with Preview, press Command-I again (it opens Preview's own Info window), click the "Details" tab -- and there you can select and copy all of the EXIF data you ever wanted, and more.
