I'm pretty familiar with copyright laws as a musician. One thing I've done as a musician is send in a CD of songs and copyright the CD as a collection (you can also do this with cassette tape). The cost the same as copyrighting individual songs and the copyright of a collection carries the same weight as individual copyrights. You also can later copyright any individual song from a collection.
Can you do the same with photos? Does anybody know? I'd like to start doing what I've done with my song writing and copyright photo collections but I don't know if that's allowed similarly to copyrighting song collections. I do know that once a photo is created (same with song writing) that it automatically has copyright protection. But that really doesn't do you a lot of good -- it's very difficult to prove copyright ownership in litigation unless you register the copyright.
