Default Focal Length

How about --

What does focal length mean in relation to the lens you are going to purchase.

I am not sure where this should go, but this thread looks like the correct place. I am new to dSLR and photography and I foud myself wondering about all things f-stop and found this great explanation of it here:

A Tedious Explanation of the f/stop

Enjoy and I hope it helps others as it helped me!

Talking Model Release

I am still pretty confused about model releases. I guess to err on the side of caution it is best to get them at every shoot I do. However, to be honest - I am not sure how to approach the subject about the model release. I am also not sure if that should be discussed BEFORE we shoot? Or at the time they are reviewing the proofs? Or when it should be asked? Some help would be great. Thanks.
