Default Color question....please help?

I am slowly learning so please forgive my stupid question.... I have noticed several pictures that in the photograph the colors really stand out or should I say "pop", reds look really red, blue sky is really blue, greens and so on. Can someone tell me if this is done with photoshop or by using filters or different settings? I did try out a circular polarized filter and noticed that in the right lighting it did make the colors look more bold. I am not posting a photo as an example, because I don't want to use someones photo without permission. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

It's called post-processing. Nothing is SOOC anymore.

With a polarizing filter you can turn it to get more light in effect coming through this can make a difference so play about with that.. Although some PP everything you can get vibrancy by using filters etc etc. I know some flowers by us just had the POW factor with no touching up in PP but it does depend on the lighting. If you want more advice look into the tutorials for beginners found here ... just click the link below

Tutorials at DPS I know I found them a wealth of knowledge and helped loads... fear not not everything is done in PP these days but do invest in some editing software to learn the ropes I would strongly recommend Serif Photoplus for a beginner I use it and it is way cheaper than Photoshop and does almost eberything that does

I do in Photoshop. A little sharpning and a soft light adjustment gives me all the color POP I need.

So your telling me I can stop being so darn frustrated that my colors aren't the way I think they should be. Thank goodness! Looks like I am going to have to learn some serious post processing! Thank you!

Thank you for the advice on tutorials. I read through a few of them this morning. I did go out earlier today and used the polarized filter and noticed a great difference. You can check out my picasa link under the file Braden of what I took today if you would like. Thanks for your help!

Thank you, I am going to have to check out photoshop. I started with a trial of photoshop elements. I just can't decide which to get. I had not messed with the color aspect of it yet. Thank you!

Thre is a world of difference between Elements and CS4 - the cost - Elements is under a $100 US and CS4 is 5 to 6 times that. I will say that I bought cs3 on ebay for $150 and I LOVE it...

I love ebay! Did you buy it used or new? If it was used how did that work with the coding or serial numbers that you need to register that. Or does that not matter? I would love to find a buy like that, but I am always afraid that it won't work. Thank you!

Let me tell ya, I was quaking in my boots. Mine was a never used version of CS3 - I can even upgrade it...And it was from a woman in MA. The question to ask the buyer, is can you upgrade it...

If you get one that has already been registered, you cannot upgrade, but I THINK it'll work (coming from some folks on DPS)

here is one that I found on ebay - sd its also new, 1/2 of what I paid (grrr) but the person selling has not been a member very long...
