Talking Oh. My. GOSH!

This guy on Flickr just sent me a message saying that he's interested in using one of my photos in an ad for The Children's Defense Fund! I can't believe this! I hope this guy is for real.

I can charge him?!
That would be awesome if I made some money. He said that the CDF was one of their pro bono clients. Maybe he was trying to hint that I probably wouldn't be getting paid. Lol.

Hell yea..........Where is this guy from, an Ad Agency, PR firm or magazine?
Sure you can charge him. Since the CDF is one of his pro bono ($$$) clients, he's getting paid for whatever, so charge him. If he can save money going to you, it's more going into his pockets. Ask him how the photo will be used, what size, page placement and circulation. If it's going to be an ad for them, that's some big bucks......maybe $1200.00 to $1500.00 or more for one year's usage for North American Rights only. . If it's going a a website a small 1/4 page rate is $550.00 and it goes up from there, a full page photo on a website is about $1100.00 for a one-years rights usage. If it goes elsewhere outside North American get more money. make sure you have him sign a contract regrading what rights you are selling.

Wow! This is exciting! He said he's from an ad agency in Minneapolis. Fallon, Inc. I'll email him asking for more details.

Looks like it for web based advertising.....remember they get paid the big buck to put together sites for clients.

That's GREAT!

You did make me chuckle on your comment:
"I can charge him?"

That would have been the first thing out of my mouth too

However....just because CDF is his pro bono case, it doesn't mean it has to be Bryanna's, too.

Congrats on the recognition, Bry! And yes, you should charge him.

He might think the photo will be free for his pro bono client, but they charge their other clients for business. Check out their client listings there's some big names on that lists. Just because he's doing it for public good, doesn't mean you have too.
