Default funny comment other people make

Today I was faced with a few comments that either made me
or just
I would love to hear comments other people have made of you focusing in on a leaf or bug or fence post ... do others think you are quite mad?

1. Them: What are you doing?
Me: I am taking a picture of this grasshopper.
Them: Why?
ME: He is colorful and kind of neat looking.
Them: OOOO-KKKK (said with your a crazy lady recently escaped from the nut house aren't you?)

2. Them: You take such wonderful photos! You know you should take a photography class!
Me: If I am that good at taking photographs why do you think I need a class to learn how to take them?
Them: errr...

Anyway ~ do you have any funny comments people make to you about your photography? How do you handle the comments from strangers when your zoomed in on a blade of grass or a fence post?

Not a comment made to me, but i thought it was kind of weird. I was at the park, taking some pics when i first got my lens, and I was taking some pictures of some cute little duckies and someone says, "Oh, look, she's taking pictures of the ducks!" in a very excited voice. It was just weird. LOL

When ever I used to wear a photo vest some idiot always has to ask, "If I caught anything?" Like they can't tell the difference by someone carrying cameras instead of a fishing pole.

That's my same problem. If I don't come up with some fast one liners the neighbors are going to think I am the crazy lady on the block or something

Just this morning I took a walk down by our bayou near our house. I was trying to get some cool swamp photos. There was a police car that passed me about 4 times
We live in a small community and I can hear the police scanner now
"Crazy lady stalking turtles... BOLO"

The weirdest thing I've come across when I was doing a prom photoshoot recently. I was getting ready to shoot this one young couple, and I adjusted my reflector (mind you, it's a big one, 40"x60"). The girl got kind of panicked and yelled out "Oh my God, what IS that thing???" I said, "It's a reflector." Then she asked, "What's it gonna do????" I calmly explained to her that it was going to sit quietly and behave while it reflected some nice light onto her. She looked skeptical at first, but finally relaxed.

Damn killer reflectors out on the loose, giving the nice ones a bad name.

hhhahaahhaaha.. these are awesome.

Susan. "its to scare off the aliens... thats what the tinfoil side is for"

its funny how, (when you have a big camera) suddenly people respect you more, and dont walk in front of you when taking a shot.
the number of times people paused at the invisible line between me and the subject is quite phenominal.... compared to the number of times with my bridge that people just walk infront.

AHHH OK ..so all I need is a bigger more expensive camera and I will go from crazy lady who lives down the street to artist
I will have to run this theory by my husband tonight

"Honey ~ I need the $3,000 camera so the neighbors don't think I am crazy"
