Default Calibrating Monitor -- Oh the difference

I got my Spyder Pro calibrating kit yesterday. After running it my reaction was "how did I ever live without this." The difference wasn't dramatic but enough that it blew me away. Now my shots look like I had expected them too before post processing. And the biggest thing was my shots off the printer now look like the shots on my monitor.

If you haven't calibrated your monitor I'd highly recommend it.

Yes, I'm talking about when printing from home. My prints previously would look too dark and lack detail, while on the monitor they looked pretty good. Now my prints look just like what is on the monitor. That was my concern. I don't send out for prints very often.

Took the jump the other day myself. I went el'cheap-o and bought the HueyPRO. Made a difference with my monitor colours and perhaps more importantly as far as my past printing results was concerned, it darkened my monitor slightly. Overall I'm happy with the results.
The HueyPRO constantly monitors the ambiant light and adjusts the monitor brightness accordingly.
A hint to those that haven't calibrated their monitors would be to turn the brightness down to around 75% as most are shipped from the factory much too bright.

She Spyder Pro 3 also monitors ambient light constantly and I like that. I read a recommendation to recalibrate regularly about once a month. I'm sure I'll do that.
