Default 47th Street Photo

I'm so upset right now. I hemmed and hawed and debated and finally ordered a lens from 47th Street Photo on Monday. Paid an extra sum to have it delivered in two days. The money was taken out of my bank account immediately and then shortly thereafter I get a notice that tells me my tracking number of the shipment. Today, when I'm expecting it I get an email from UPS that the shipment was voided. I then call the customer service number and get a "nice man" who proceeds to tell me that yes the order was cancelled because apparently someone else order the same product at the exact same time as I did and it got shipped to them not me and they will refund my money within the next few business days. Ugghhh so I say nah, that's not really going to work blah blah blah so the guy puts me on hold to tell me that he has "gone the extra mile for me" and I will receive my refund sometime today however it will take my bank several days to process this. Nothing like being told that I am a special customer and I should be grateful to him for making this happen so quickly.

I miss real customer service !! Now I have to wait to get the funds back, then wait more time for the new lens to be shipped. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Sorry to hear that, but I have to say 47th st has a pretty good reputation as being reliable/trustworthy.....I just think they are a little too big.

I usually go to a nearby store to get stuff for the cameras. But didn't have time. Bummed, was looking forward to going out and playing

Really? I've heard nothing but bad things about 47th street.

...agree with Jim on this, B&H has always performed well for me...also had good luck with Adorama over the years. Sorry to hear about your disappointment...really sucks when you're all excited about getting some new equipment only to be let down by the merchant

I've ordered a few things from 47th St. and had no problems at all.

I think dealing with all of these merchants boils down to the luck of the draw..sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. If you read the customer reviews on many of these dealers, you quickly find out who the duds are. 47th Street Photo has been around for a long, long time, and if I were to guess, I'd say they probably have a pretty good overall rating.

It does sound like the luck of the draw. A friend just had a bad experience with B&H, which is why I stayed away from them.

Maybe by next weekend I will have a new lens here. Should be getting stuff done around here anyway.

Awww, that stinks, Sue! Yeah, I really think it is luck of the draw.

I've used B&H a bunch of times and have not had one problem. I love 'em! I've also used Adorama once or twice and had no problems with them either. Never have tried 47th, though.
