You are, yes... :-)

I put your question in the right place, too.

Sounds like you should ask your instructor first. If he's ok with it (hopfully yes!) then fire away!

Err? I'm doing a photography course as well - and I'm certainly able to ask questions here. Maybe I gave the benefit of the doubt too quickly?.... Anyway - if you can ask a question here without being thrown out of your class, sure - go ahead... If you can't don't.

well ...... I have a friend (who is over 40 by the way) who texted me during a final exam in her photography course to ask me questions about dof and aperture openings. Perhaps I am jaded, but ................I had to say it before offering any type of help

I could never understand the theory behind not being able to ask for help when you're trying to learn/do something. I know, I know - it's all about morals and cheating. It just never made sense to me.

I'm thunderhead on my feet when it comes to reading and memorizing/learning things. Show me how to do it with my hands/visually and I'll never forget it. Ask me to study a book and write a test and I can gaurantee you I'll fail that test.

In this world, I ask for help and get people to show me. If someone thinks I'm cheating because of that, I could really care less. At the end of the day I would like to have the knowledge, and I'm prepared to get it through interaction with a knowledgeable and/or experienced person rather than through a book and seeing how good my memory is.

I hope you gently slapped that friend :-) During an exam is one thing, but if it's just "while you're studying" this is the best place to be...
