Default Tax ID - Do you have one; do you need one?

I guess i've been flying under the radar with my little photography business which has just recently kicked off...I was looking into boutique packaging and one company i wanted to try only sells to professional photographers with a Tax ID number...

My question is, do most of you have a TIN? If so, how do you get one?

Is this a part time or under the radar business???????? If so, you need to register for a business license first with the county, city and state. Hahahaha...welcome to the business side of photography

At one time I got one when I registered a business (also called an Employer ID Number)...Later, with a sole proprietorship, I used my SSN....

Well, this started out as a part time hobby -- and it still is, but I happen to be making money here and there from it now... I'm not intentionally flying under the radar, but I guess ignorance is bliss at this point!

Well..technically, once you start making money, you're suppose to register and apply for a biz license. If the pros in your area catch wind, then you up the creek without a paddle. But I use my SSN number.
