Default photo management

Hey guys, I recently moved to Flickr .. I lost my password to photobucket and wanted to try this as I see most of you do .. my question is why? There appear to be lots of features and functions .. did you download the loader application? is it valuable? All I use right now is the canned editor that came with my Vista, should I invest in photoshop? All I really do is take nature shots, keep them close to what I saw .. maybe adjust the brightness and contrast a bit to please the eye, then crop a bit and resize to share with you guys .. just thought to throw this out for some commentary.. thx

after a few months of using flickr, i decided to bite the bullet and go for a pro membership......what i like most about it is that flickr provides me with an alternative online storage......the pro account allows me to save my images at their original size.....

originally, i did download the loader app......but, it huccuped too often when i began trasferrring the large amount of images i have to it......now all i do is use the upload ink on my front page......

i do highly reccomend that if you're trasnferring everything off your photobucket account, that you go ahead and get the pro account first......it enables you to load as many images as you like at a time.....

as far as editing goes, i'm a photoshop fan....but, it is what i cut my teeth on and i find it still satisfies my need for exploration after over ten years of dallying on it......

Hi Jack:

In regards to photoshop... Check out Adobe Lightroom, It has a great organizing system and you stated that all you do is touch up your photos ect. Lightroom cannot manipulate photos but you can do tons of adjustments. I would try a demo version to see if that will cover your needs. Price is about 199.00 US compared to full photoshop. I love it, hardly ever use photoshop anymore.

When you look into either PS or LR also check out the education discount. If you know anyone who is a student or teacher you can get it much cheaper. I just bought the whole CS4 suite for just over $300 and LR for $99.

I do have the education version of CS2 for the PC for sale right now.
