Default San Diego Photo spots

I am taking a class in photography and my final portfolio is going to be on my car and I was wondering if any of you know great locations in San Diego. Any suggestions would help. Basic garage shots, rolling shots, and profile car shots is what I will be doing. I have 3 weeks to do this so the quicker the replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm in San Diego, and I recommend Balboa Park if you're around there. Some great stuff, and great scenery. I honestly think that it is one of the best places in San Diego. La Jolla Shores is an awesome beach, but quite crowded.

I'm not in SoCal, but I imagine there has to be a parking garage somewhere around you that you can go to at night.
Cliche? Maybe, but with they are lit for you, and there's really nothing but textural concrete in the background, so you won't get any annoying reflections of people, whatever...
And there's usually lots of lines on the ground that you can use to your advantage to create dynamic compositions.
And all the overhead lights can make the paint really shine.

ie:

No flashes or anything. Just a wide angle lens.
Bring a tripod though, because you might have to expose your shots for a second or two if the lights are dim.

Maybe parking on the roof of one of the downtown structures to get a bit of a view? That parking lot across from Petco might let you get views of downtown and Petco, the convention center, or maybe even the Coronado Bridge into the background, maybe? And there's that parking lot at the back of Geisel Library at UCSD that might let you get "the spaceship" into the back of a shot.

Oh. Duh. Mt. Soledad. Try that. You might have to circle a couple times to find a good spot to park the car, and it'll be a pain dodging the cars going round the monument, but it's got possibilities.

Thanks for all the suggestions I'm going to have to take a drive one day soon to get a better idea on what I'm going to need to do. UCSD is a really good idea. More ideas are welcome. Thanks again.

Park somewhere with lots of neon at night, and photograph the reflections of the neon on your car.

Park somewhere on the strand and try to get a photo of your car "in the ocean".

If you trust someone else enough to drive your car, find a switch-back road and take several shots of your car, and then combine them all into one. Well, maybe that's one's a bit overdone

id have to agree... rolling shots are awesome... maybe some long exposures from the inside of the car while moving at night... ive seen it done from a tri pod in the back seat... this makes for some really amazing pics although i havent tried it yet... ill see if i can find the thread where i see it.

I hear they have a world-class zoo. Plenty of hills to get cityscape photos. The beach. If you have a gps, check for attractions. ie, parks, lakes, etc. I use mine ALOT for photo walks or drives.
