Default 8 year old girls

Can someone tell me what little 8 year old girls are interested in? I have a shoot this weekend and I have no idea what I am going to talk with her about.

My simple solution: Ask her.
Seems the fastest way to gain trust. Asking others and then talking to her like you know all about her can dismay even the young. Asking her feels honest, builds trust and begins a bond, which in turn adds a comfort level.
Just my thoughts. I could be way off base. ; )

Seen any good kid's movies recently? That would be a good topic of conversation.

I agree with RS

just talk about the shoot..General stuff, dont want to shy her off. It will show in your photos. Might be a good or bad thing depending on the scene. Try asking her what she wants to be when she grows up.. then build on that.

I agree with Rolling Stone. You could also ask the parents. They might know what her favorite thing is. If it's a show you might be able to familiarize yourself with it. Alot of kids just need some cues and then they won't stop talking to you about it. Ask about school, friends, activities, what she did over spring break, plans for the summer, etc. I always talk to kids like they are people not kids. I hope that helps.

I have asked the parents and they sd - the usual girl stuff. I will ask about the movies, but I fear if I mention Hanna Montana I will roll my eyes so far in the back of my head they will get suck there and the pics won't be any good - at all - even to a parents veiled eyes...LOL

Its funny I have no experience what so ever with girlie girls. My sisters and I were all Tom Boys and I have a boy. oh well. I will keep a mental note for next time tho'

Ask what her favorite animal is - my niece adores horses, she's 10 now but has been riding since she was 7.

Maybe Polly Pockets? Nintendo Game Boys? High School Musical (I, II and III)? Taylor Swift? Anthing on the Disney Channel, such as Suite Life (which show I despise more than most things)? Books she's reading?
