I am looking to build my own photography website. So i am in need of ideas.
Can you provide me a link to your websites? Do any of you use any of these - 4Images Gallery , Coppermine Photo Gallery , Gallery? If so, can you show me what they look like?

My site is purely a portfolio, though there is mention in a few places of sales. It was done from scratch and hosted at my own expense.

Although I have tried all of those at one time or another, I choose to go with Gallery. It had a look and feel that was closest to what I wanted out right of the box, and more menued options meant I didn't have to go into the CSS to tweak stuff as often.
Oh, I should also add that I don't sell my pics, I just use Gallery to share them with friends, family and as a host for posting images on forums. http://www.oakandacorn.com/danphotos

I've used both Coppermine and the menalto Gallery for web development projects. Both worked well, though I tend to prefer using Gallery more than anything else, because of the way it integrates with other applications like WordPress and Joomla. For my photoblog (see signature) I use PixelPost.

I used Zenfolio (see my signature) to build David Clark Photography. I chose them for several reasons, but one of the biggest was that I didn't have to bother with the details of HTML and CSS. I didn't want to have to code anything by hand, or even really think about it beyond a basic setup. That's my preference -- other sites are considerably different, and may fit you better.

I used Gallery for the longest time, and then upgraded to Gallery 2 when that came out. I was always very impressed at how seamless everything worked with minimal setup. I used to like designing my galleries from scratch, but now I want to spend the time taking and processing the photos, not designing a site to showcase them.
Although, looking at some of the links in your signatures, I really like what I see
