Default Photography 101 - What should I look at?

Good evening,

I want to improve my photography and be a little more diverse and creative. Which photos would you suggest every photographer should be aware of?

I found http://www.worldsfamousphotos.com/ which has reminded me and introduced me to some good work but am interested in your ideas. I guess the first response to my question would be 'What do you want to take photographs of?' but I don't really know other than landscapes don't really float my boat. I just want to look at every day things differently.

It all depends on what YOU like to photograph. Landscapes , people , animals. Try them all until you find your own nitch

I've been trying to do the exact same thing recently: take photos of ordinary or common things, but present them in a slightly different, almost abstract, way. Taking close ups of things, or only parts of things, can help pull off these types of shots. Inspiration for me with these types of shots is sporadic, though. I haven't figured out how to see these shots consciously (if that makes any sense). I'd be be curious to hear if you run into this same obstacle.

That, and shots of wildlife and my family. too.

As windrider said, finding out what you like to shoot takes trial and error. It could be that you won't foucs on one particular subject (say, portraits), and that's fine. As long as you like what you're doing, your shots will improve and you'll enjoy the journey.

Good luck!
