![]() It was this shot. I just loved how it came out. I still like it a lot, in fact I have an 11x14" print of it. I see now some of the more technical flaws with it, but it was very much a right place, right time, and luck with the Auto setting on my camera. I've come quite a way since then, but I still really like the picture.

The first shot that really got me excited was one I took of the basketball player Walt Frasser who played for the New York Knicks in the 60's and 70's. I took it back when I was 12 years old with my fixed lens 35mm Yashica camera. It was B&W and I developed it in my own darkroom and mailed him a copy and asked that he autograph it. He did and I had it in my room for many years when I was younger.

This was one of the first shots I took with my first ever digital camera, a little point and shoot Nikon Coolpix. When I saw this picture, it hit me that I might have an "eye" in photography. I have one of these on my desks at work as a reminder of how far I've come and the exact moment of when my life changed forever.
This is a statue of a bronze horse taken in the Paris Casino in Las Vegas. All of my friends were busy drinking and gambling, but I spend my entire time taking pictures.

My first camera was a SONY DSC-H2 and I bought it just to have a camera that I can use for taking pictures at parties or friends, just casual shots. Then this Grasshopper came outside my house and then half of the loving photography process started. Here's the picture
After I got the picture I was trying to get some review. Then I found this amazing forum and start reading comments of the members, their photo's reviews, the gear they use and all together made me want more from photography. Then I got my camera stolen and as many of you know, I went for the Nikon D40. Sorry for the story, just wanted to share with you guys!

my first shot was the shot that made it for me.....i was all of eight years old, and my camera was one of those plastic cased deals i got from turning in bottle caps.....it was my dog, cindy, and my next door neighbors trying to corral her....
i've been hooked ever since... beauty |

I have always loved photography especially taking photos of my family and friends but I never paid attention to settings and backgrounds and such until just recently and this photo was my first attempt at something other than humans and animals! I really loved this and it encouraged me to try other things and to pay attention more. I have so much to learn and am enjoying every minute of it!

I think the one shot for me that made me fall in love with photography, even just a little bit, was this one:
![]() I'd lived in Austin for about 2.5 years at that point, and was amazed at how the city just stopped if the temperatures dropped below 55* F. I wandered outside, wearing flip flops, sweat pants, and a tank top, and just started snapping pictures. This one (which I can see all the things wrong with it now) ended up being our Christmas Card that year. BTW, the light green blob in the upper left corner isn't a blown-out sky - it's the water tower that was behind our apartment complex ![]() Of course, it also doesn't hurt that I have an exceptionally photogenic daughter. There have been others over the years, and several recently, that have made me just stop and go "wow," but I think it all started with that one.
