Unhappy "No Images On Card" But I see them on my camera?!

Sorry if this is out there already, I did a search and failed to find any threads that addressed this.

So here is what happened. I have a Canon 50D, using a 4gig card shooting in RAW... go take some shots come back to the office and try to upload the images. Photoshop and any other image program I have says there are no images to be found. What!?! This has never happened to me... Is the card damged? Shouldn't be, by me anyways - its been used only once before and it was fine.

I can see the images on my camera screen as I scroll through all 85 of them.

Any thoughts, suggestions or similar happenings?

Thanks!!

I don't have a Canon but it sounds to me as if your photoshop does not have the requisite RAW plugin. Without that, it will not recognize the images on your card. Your photographs ARE on the card, all you need now is a program (or correct plugin) to view them on your computer.

I only tried it on Photoshop Elements 5.0 PC and 6.0 MAC. Two days before I used the same card, in RAW and it worked perfect on the MAC. I did an additional shoot with a different card the same day, same camera, different card and those came off right.

....

aaaaahhh.. are you swapping cards between cameras? if you're not formatting the card every time you put it into the camera it can cause trouble.

i use elements 6 on PC all the time... no problems.

Try downloading a free program called faststone image viewer - it's a great image browser and you can do basic editing and cropping etc with it, but the main point here is that it reads RAW files (certainly the NEF files I get from my Nikon). Put the card in your PC and browse away

It's at www.faststone.org.

Irfanview also does read the .NEF & is free.

But do you see the files on the card when the card is connected to the PC?
Using file explorer.
There are also good programs to help recuperate the files from a corrupted card.
Lexar has one for its cards "Image Rescue" = free download
And "Card Recovery" is also very good free to try/test then $

Also for each new session of pictures it is recommended to format the card in camera.

Have a nice day

Make sure photoshop has been updated. You go to the 'help' menu and it's right below deactivate.
