There is a long, boring, teenage drama story attached to this question, that I wont get into unless anyone really wants to know. My daughter was told my her school principal today that it is illegal to photograph anyone under the age of 16 without parental consent. (we are talking about cell phone pics ) I had never heard this before and wondered if anyone had ??

never heard of that before,
i do know anyone under the age of 18 needs parental consent to give a model release. so long as the images arent for sale and they are taken in a public place i'd say theers nothing wrong with it. sounds to me like a grumpy princaple being just that.. i could be wrong tho' that would be unlikley tho' the last mistake i made was when i thought i'd made a mistake, i was wrong. (i bet you've never heard that one before )

There have been cases of kids doing not so smart things. Like taking a cell phone pic of themselves in their bra and sending it to a boyfriend who then passes it on when they break up. Then causing the parents to get very mad and some kids have even been convicted and placed on the sex offender list - for sending indecent pictures of minors to others.
I think instead of your principal wanting to go into detail - he just said the short slightly incorrect version. Might help to know the long drawn out story - might help understand the principals point. i have two teenagers and two pre-teens - UUUGGGHHh i'm wondering if i'll live.

oh man, now I'm picturing the homer shorts shot ...
No, I didn't google this .. i thought of posting here first. I figured someone would know instead of having to wade through all the nonsense. We are talking cell phone shots taken during a lunch period. I assumed it was the principal being frustrated and sick of this kind of crap so he just told her anything

.....The story is a bunch of 14, 15 and 16 year old girls who one day are friends and the next they are enemies. My daughter loves to take pics on her cell phone of who ever it is that sits across the table from her at lunch. The whole group (which is 7 - 8 of them) all know this. The girl who is currently in hate with my daughter and vice versa sat across from my daughter today. My girl took all kinds of pics, the girl who hates her called both of her parents, who both called the school to talk to the principal, the principal then called my daughter into his office to say he had reports of her harrasing another student with her cell phone, he demanded to see her phone to go through both her pictures and her text messages to see if she had forwarded the pics to anyone. She let him, he found no pics and no texts, then he told her that it was illegal for her to take pics of people under the age of 16. To which I am sure she rolled her eyes, said whatever and walked away. Sigh ... and you guys wondered why I am looking back wistfully on the Chuck E Cheese days. Life was much easier before the B's hit us ... (Bad Attitude, Boys, Bleach Blond Hair, and Boobs)

Nope, you are not alone for a moment. I miss my sweet kids, who loved me, wanted my company and didn't think I was the stupidest person that walked the face of the earth.

LOLOLOL thats hilarious thank God i havn't got any daughters! ![]() although, my 3 sons break so much stuff at home its not funny, i'm sure i could make a career as a professional glazier from all the experince i've had. and the oldest is only 5 !! ..btw.. the other day my 5 year old punched a kid in the mouth for talking over the teacher. ...what do you expect from a kid that tells teenagers what to do and they listen. (no exaggeration)He's headed for being a career as a cop i reckon.. ![]() SO, thats why we enrolled him in a sports team to teach him its not "Me Vs The world".. but there is such a thing as teamwork. ..hence the justification for the 70-300 so both sexes have their pro's and cons. good luck with all of thet... my days of teenagers are still coming
