Default Horror Stories

Whats the worst thing thats ever happened to you , either on a shoot, just out shooting , or in relation to equipment failing at the most inappropriate time . Doesnt matter what when or how as long as it relates to photography ( no ex stories ha ha ) . So scare the pants off us with your disasters .

Hi compleks , I sadly did read it , but didnt have an answer for you and really didnt want to add to yr problems by babbling some rubbish about how sorry I am , although I am and imagine that somebody with a little more knowledge with these things will be able to help . I didnt start the thread because of yr situation though , it came to me while trudging 6 kilometres through bush to a waterfall today for some pics and thought it would be entertaining as these things tend to be over time and obviously after the problem is solved . All the best and good luck .

Thanks mate.

I holding onto the hope that I will be able to retrieve them some how. I can still view them on the camera, so they can't be completely lost *fingers crossed.

I can't think of any other horror stories at the moment though. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be my first terrible experience.

last summer, i volunteered to take pet portrats at a benefit for the local animal shelter......the mister buys me a brand spanking new canon printer that i could use on the fly.....well the day didn't go well......a number of issues were bent on destroying me......the worst was the lesson i learned about tying one end of my canopy to the small table my printer was sitting on....

one single gust of wind and that bad boy hit the pavement in a shower of little parts......

Taking pics of races in the rain....water got inside my lens, camera developed a minor short... I was drenched, but I did get some good pics.

Taking pics rock climbing...camera took a 50ft fall onto rocks...

And the worst....Back in the days of film...spent almost an entire day stalking a little bird on it's nest in the reeds...taking picks with a 12ft cable release while lying on the ground (hiding)...then got some other cool pics that eve of a hot air balloon fest. Only to open up the camera to change rolls without first rewinding the roll that was in there. Lost those pics.

Related... I "downloaded" several CF cards to my computer, then reformatted them only to learn one did not download....lost those pics as well.

Mine was from high school, back when point and shoots needed to have store bought batteries and the point and shoots sucked the life out of them in minutes.

I had to take a bunch of yearbook pictures and because I was 2 drades lower than the class I was photographing, they 'forced' me to take individual shots of some people and looking at the image in the playback mode. After this and 30 minutes of placing people in a group for a big shot, my camera batteries were all dead. My backups were already in use and in the camera because of all of the pictures I was forced to take (I'm very short and breaking a camera was not something any one person would hesitate to do). I was reprimanded by my advisor and the teacher who watched me get bullied for not having more than 1 backup of batteries and for wasting everyone's time. I quit soon after (and my mom accidentally destroyed my camera after I quit).

About three years ago I was at a Mariners game,it had been rainning hard before they closed the room and the concrete steps leading down from the back of home plate area (where we shoot pictures of pitchers throwing the ball to batters) was wet and slick as hell. I slipped and fell. Whoops there went my 400mm and an EOS 1D body. Broke the lens mount from the lens and pushed in part of the camera body. Embarrassing as hell. The paper picked up the repair bill. Good thing..it was about $1600.00 to repair both.
