Default Is this a silly question???

I'm really new to this site and digital photography in general. What I want to ask is, is ther somwhere on this site that gives the long meaning to all the acronyms that people are using? Sorry if this seems like something silly to ask but i'm getting lost halfway through some comments because people are using just letters. Obviously they know what they are talkng about and I can figure some out but get lost with others.

Any acronyms in particular that you would like a meaning to?

others are camera specific so is quite normal like AE-L and MF
MF Manual Focus
AE-L Exposure lock
AF Auto Focus
ISO (not an acronym.. it just looks like one)

Just follow all my threads and posts, I don't use them

My greatest hate is LOL, makes me feel like grabbing a baseball bat. Why not just say, "that is funny" or "what a laugh". but we live in the world of web that created these things, they were not created by sms.

And we wonder why teens cannot spell, think, or socialize.

These are not acronyms, this is Photography language. And now I know what SOOC means and OOF, not that I will use them. B&W, DOF and ISO are about it.

Do you know, I was about to go on a bit of a light hearted pendant trip, since I was sure ISO stood for International Organisation for Standardisation. I'd always assumed the difference in letter order was due to it being spelt in French, but I thought I'd look it up to make sure.

Turns out that ISO does stand for International Organisation for Standardisation, but is not actually an acronym for it.Weird, huh?
