Default Canon settings

I was playing around with my Canon XT settings and was wondering about the feature showing sharpness/saturation/contrast/tone. What do you use? I've heard it's better to use PP for these settings and leave all these settings at zero.

Thoughts? Do you use in-camera modifications?

I havent had my DSLR for long either, but I would leave the camera settings alone, if it was me of course!!!

I wonder when you would do it?????

I've gotten to the point where I leave those settings alone and just use the "standard" picture style. Any adjustments I make are done in post. I do know some that set all of them to zero and do everything in post.

However, don't be afraid to experiment with them; you can always re-set the camera back to all default settings.

If you shoot jpeg format images then you can use the settings to adjust what they say, and you would normally do it on an image basis rather than whole shoots.

If you shoot Raw then they are of no value at all because it is a number in a bucket which does not get used even by the conversion software.
