Default A bit different.

Hi Guys,

Well, it does say "Off Topic" in this section and this subject is most deffinately off topic.

I thought Id pose this to you guys as so far everyone has been helpful to me where they can. For a number of years now I have been wanting to get a tattoo to honour my kids. I have 2 daughters, one 10 years old and the other 4 years old and both of them are blonde beauties! The only problem is that I want the tattoo design to be something good, not just a "Oh that will do" sort of thing - you know, just right and I just cant seem to get a design in my head to work on.
One idea I have had is to do a letter "J" or 2 letter "J's" within some sort of design as it is the initial of both their first names so I was wondering if there are any artists here who might fancy tackling this one for me or maybe someone with a creative flare with a pencil?

To give you a little more idea:

I do not like picture tattoos of animals - birds, butterflies etc etc - none at all - deffinately not hearts.
Stars are good.
I DO like lettering, nice swirling fonts.
I do like tribal/celtic stuff.
I like black and white as well as colour.

I would like a design to show that it is for my two girls but not a design that looks like it should have been inked onto a lady - if you know what I mean.

So, anyone out there fancy trying thier hand and doing a sketch - I would be very grateful to see all and any ideas!

Thanks in advance.
Steve.

I have a brother in law that is really good at this sort of thing. I'll drop him a note.

I think it's great you're looking to honor your daughters but I also think there are much better ways to do it. Don't fall for the tat trend! In 30 years time, we'll have retirees with stretched and fuzzy tats! If that doesn't scare you I don't know what will!

Boo on that, go for it! Tattoos are not a trend they have been around forever. I think it is a great way to honor them and if it makes you happy then thats all that counts. I was fascinated with tattos from a early, early age. I don't reget any of mine. Watch out though, they really can be addictive. One bit of advice, make sure you do your reasearch on it and they shop/artist. Check out their portfolio and make sure they can give you the quality of work you will be wanting and paying for.

That would be great!! thanks very much - it will really help me come up with ides, thankyou!

Photonoobie:- Thanks for your words of warning, I do appreciate it and do sort of agree abou the stretched and fuzzy tattoo bit you said but, i dont think it would matter to me simply because it is something for my kids - if I had a tattoo just for the sake of getting one and it did that, i probably would be annoyed but as it is for my kids, I will always love it.

jagoble:- Thanks to you too, I will make sure to look out for the artists quality of work, I am already asking people where they got theirs done, and avoiding places that the work looks a bit shaky.

Looking forward to seeing the ideas!
Steve.
