You can always check youtube. I put "Photography Lessons" into search and got this. I haven't checked them out, but they may be helpful if you are a visual learner.

Every time I read something about photography that I don't what it is I goggle it and I find all kinds of info on the subject

not to beat a dead horse, but today's photography books are not text--they are fully-illustrated, usually glossy, and include many, many images and diagrams. While I find a lot of information on the web, I still prefer books because they fill in the gaps and are organized.

try shortcouses.com, or do what i did, go to borders, and start racking up on books! but shortcourses.com will go over a lot of the basics in laymen's terms.

Rules prohibit creativity-There are no "rules" in photography-just compromises. Regards,Ken

I agree that "rules are meant to be broken", but IMO you have to understand the rules in order to know when/how to break them (and get away with it).

One of the best ways, and harshest, is to submit your work for critique in the critique section.....I'm trying to be "nicer"

thanks guys, i agree totally! but sometimes people will say, "why didnt you take this using the rules of 3rds?"....because apparently, they find it distracting the way i took it...
