Default storing backgrounds

When using sheets as a backdrop how do you store them so that they aren't wrinkled everytime you use them?

Yea it's pretty much impossible. I gave up ironing mine because it's so huge. I should have gotten a smaller one doh!

I just fold mine up and keep them in a big rubbermaid bin. I haven't got it yet, but it was recommended to me a couple times to get a portable steamer of some sort. I've heard they sell a pretty decent small one at Target for about 30 bucks. So that's what I plan on doing. That way it would just take a couple swipes of the steamer to get the wrinkles out.

I have a portable steamer that I use. Since I dont have a permanent studio all of my stuff is packed and lugged around so I needed something to de-wrinkle at someones house. never felt comfortable asking for use of thier dyer. lol

I find that you need to learn to embrace the wrinkles, increase subject to background distance or get wrinkle resistant material.

I have backdrops that wrinkle and I don't fight it. I store them wadded up in a ball so that the wrinkles are random, or twisted lenthwise (like ringin out a rag) so that the wrinkles are vertical.

If I want a smooth background, I use my foam-baked materials or seamless paper.

The creases that come from folding backdrops are worse than wrinkles to my eyes.

I keep mine rolled up on 10' lengths of electrical conduit hanging from the rafters in my basement. They aren't perfectly wrinkle-free, but it is tollerable.
